CRediT Author Statement

The Journal of Technology Informatics and Engineering (JTIE) requires authors to disclose individual author contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

CRediT provides a standardized framework for describing the specific roles performed by each contributor to a scholarly work. Its use is intended to improve transparency, accountability, and recognition of individual contributions, while helping to reduce ambiguity regarding authorship responsibilities.

The CRediT statement does not replace JTIE's authorship criteria and should not be used to assign authorship to individuals who do not otherwise qualify as authors. Rather, it provides a transparent description of the contributions made by authors who have already satisfied the journal's authorship requirements.

Requirements

Authors must observe the following requirements:

  1. A CRediT author contribution statement is required for all manuscripts with multiple authors. Each author's actual contribution to the research and manuscript must be clearly identified.
  2. The corresponding author is responsible for the accuracy of the statement. The corresponding author must ensure that the declared contributions have been reviewed and agreed upon by all co-authors before submission.
  3. Each author may be assigned one or more CRediT roles. Authors should only be assigned roles that accurately reflect their actual contribution to the work.
  4. The same role may be assigned to multiple authors. Contribution roles do not need to be exclusive to one individual.
  5. CRediT roles do not determine the order of authorship. Author order must be agreed upon independently by the authors in accordance with their disciplinary practices and contribution agreements.
  6. CRediT does not alter JTIE authorship criteria. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship should be recognized in the Acknowledgement section where appropriate.
  7. The contribution statement submitted during the manuscript process must correspond to the contribution statement presented in the final accepted manuscript.

CRediT Contributor Roles

Conceptualization Formulation or development of the overarching research ideas, goals, and objectives.
Methodology Development or design of the research methodology, models, methods, or procedures.
Software Programming, software development, implementation of computer code or algorithms, and testing of software components.
Validation Verification of the reproducibility, replication, accuracy, or validity of research results, experiments, models, or other outputs.
Formal Analysis Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize research data.
Investigation Conducting experiments, research procedures, fieldwork, or collection of data and evidence.
Resources Provision of materials, datasets, laboratory resources, instrumentation, computing resources, participants, samples, or other research tools.
Data Curation Management, organization, annotation, cleaning, documentation, preservation, and maintenance of research data or relevant software code.
Writing – Original Draft Preparation and writing of the initial manuscript, including substantive preparation of the original scholarly content.
Writing – Review & Editing Critical review, revision, commentary, and editing of the manuscript during its preparation or revision stages.
Visualization Preparation and presentation of figures, diagrams, graphical representations, data visualizations, or other visual research outputs.
Supervision Oversight, leadership, mentoring, and guidance of the research planning and execution.
Project Administration Management and coordination of research activities, schedules, responsibilities, and project implementation.
Funding Acquisition Acquisition of financial support or funding that contributed to the research project.

How to Prepare the CRediT Statement

The author's initials or full names should be followed by the applicable contribution roles. Authors should maintain the same name or initials consistently throughout the statement.

Recommended format:

A.Y.D.N.: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Writing – Original Draft. J.M.: Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Investigation. A.W.: Visualization, Resources, Validation. J.T.S.: Supervision, Project Administration. M.C.W.: Software, Validation. A.K.: Writing – Review & Editing. All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript.

Example for a Two-Author Paper

Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft. Author B: Validation, Visualization, Supervision, Writing – Review & Editing. Both authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript.

Example for a Single-Author Paper

For a single-author manuscript, the author may provide:

Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Formal Analysis, Data Curation, Visualization, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing.

Important Note on Authorship

The assignment of a CRediT role does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. All listed authors must have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the work and must accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published manuscript.

Contributors who provided only general administrative assistance, language proofreading, technical assistance, routine data collection, or other support that does not meet the journal's authorship criteria should normally be acknowledged in the Acknowledgement section rather than listed as authors.
